Telugu Language attains World Language Status in Fremont Unified School District

SiliconAndhra ManaBadi, world’s largest non-profit initiative to teach Telugu the 2nd most spoken ancient Indian language, accomplished a huge milestone. After 3 years of continued efforts and several meetings with Telugu linguists and Telugu language professors in U.S institutions, and multiple revisions of the books to comply with California state standards and guidelines, on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 SiliconAndhra ManaBadi’s Telugu language course content was approved by Fremont Unified School District, Board of Education as a world language to be offered as for credit course in FUSD high schools. Students in grades 7 to 12 attending any of the Fremont Unified School districts secondary schools will now be able to enroll in a Telugu class offered by SiliconAndhra ManaBadi and earn high school credits. Efforts are underway to have this facility available in other major school districts across USA.

SiliconAndhra ManaBadi is the only Telugu language school in the world to have received this recognition. SiliconAndhra ManaBadi thanks Fremont Unified School District staff and Board of Education for giving the opportunity to serve and to provide a framework to heritage and non-heritage families’ to learn Telugu.

SiliconAndhra ManaBadi offers levels Telugu 1 through Telugu 4. Four years of language course other than English provides opportunity to Heritage and non-Heritage students to excel in a World language and earn credits to fulfill college requirements.
